After all, back in 2005 Resident Evil games didn’t have as much dialog as the series does today. I wondered if I should get another game code and reinstall, but I couldn’t wait. Not the sound of people, or the monsters, or music, or weapons. But again, the curse: after trying various console setting configurations, I couldn’t get the downloaded product to emit sound. So last week when Capcom released Resident Evil 4 Remake, with art enhanced for the high definition of today’s PlayStation 5 and Xbox 4K graphics, I was just so ready for a deep dive into the 14-hour game. Nonetheless, what I had seen had made me appreciate the series, which surely must have been an inspiration for the 2013 game The Last of Us, itself recently turned into a HBO hit. Crestfallen and busy, I never went back to start again. I asked Nintendo about this, and they said there was nothing they could do to retrieve the file. Midway through the game, my save file became corrupt. Though I’ve never been a very agile gamer, it had nothing to do with the way I used the controller. Back in 2005 when Resident Evil 4 was released for the Nintendo GameCube, I realized the action-oriented horror survival offering would be one of the best games of the year-it was just so eerie-but I did not have luck playing it. CapcomĪ curse must have something to do with it. Leon will receive three Spinels for his trouble, which can be used to trade for weapons, treasure maps, and more.Leon Kennedy under attack in Resident Evil 4. Shooting the nest will cause the jewel to drop to the ground for Leon to collect, after which it can be sold back to the Merchant to complete the request. This is where the Scratched Emerald lies. Once here, players should look north towards the stairs where a bird’s nest can be found on a roof. If the crow is too quick for Leon, the jewel can be found just outside a room housing the Merchant and a typewriter on the far side of the courtyard from the main castle building. Players should be able to follow this bird through the Courtyard and around the corner to find where it has hidden the jewel. But the jewel’s location according to the request is somewhat misleading, as the Courtyard actually extends past the maze back to the area between the Wine Cellar and the Courtyard itself, where Leon and Ashley became separated after first reaching the castle.Īfter making it back out into the courtyard from the ballroom, players may notice a crow that flies away just as Leon walks outside. The Scratched Emerald can be found in a crow’s nest near the mazed Courtyard area where Leon and Ashley encountered some violent dogs earlier in the game. It tasks players with tracking down a crow that’s flown off with a valuable jewel, and Leon is going to have to backtrack trough the castle to hunt it down. The Jewel Thief Merchant request can be found next to the Merchant by the ballroom once Leon returns from the mines.
